Abstract Global warming is accelerating, thus irreversibly changing the human environment, and most of measures taken to halt this phenomenon seem be result wishful thinking. Policies meant combat climate change fail bring about desired effect. Arctic indigenous peoples are particularly vulnerable change, their cultural identity under threat. However, owing actions by state authorities European Union institutions, there a chance that Sami languages will preserved.
